Born 1982 Co.Galway, Ireland. Lorraine McDonnell graduated from the Crawford College of Art & Design in 2005 with a B.A (Hons) Degree in Fine Art. She continued to pursue her artistic practice from a studio on 35 Princes in Cork City centre. Several years later in July 2009, McDonnell co-founded ‘Basement Project Space’ (An artist-led initiative comprising an exhibition/project space and artists studios) along with two other Cork based Artists. As well as partaking in the organisation and programming of events, McDonnell also continues to work from her studio at the back of Basement Project Space. Her work consists mainly of painting and drawing both traditionally and digitally, taking inspiration from graffiti, street art, contemporary illustration, photographic realism, hyperrealism, surrealism and life in general. More recently, McDonnell has began experimenting with animation, sculpture and comic books.
